Everywhere we go these days someone says, "have a good day". Now I find no fault with this but I am wondering. What constitutes a GOOD day? Weather,
unexpected gifts, extra money, lots of work done? Ashley at the Verizon store said as I was leaving," have a good day." It was raining cats and dogs and I had just paid for a new cell phone and then found out it warranted me another 2-year contract with Verizon, which I didn't want. Soooo, I asked Ashley what meant a good day for her. She said," if I can get thru the work day without someone upsetting me, that is a good day. Is it possible for me to HAVE a good day.
Based upon Ashley's definition a good day us not up to me but is dependent upon the behavior of someone else. If it were up to me I would have a good day every day.
The saying probably has about as much influence as saying good luck.
The Bible says,"this is the day that the Lord has made. I will rejoice in it and be glad." The words I WILL involve a choice. Rejoice and be glad or be gloomy and sad. Let it rain and let the bad news come: it can still be a good day. A good day does not have to depend upon someone else making it happen for me.
I think instead of saying HAVE A GOOD DAY to people I will instead say GOD BLESS YOU TODAY. Some days I am too deep for even me LOL
