old dillon church

Lately this old photo came into my hands and it caused me to reflect. The building was of one room. Sunday school classes were divided by curtains. We used no instruments to assist us in worship. We had no big screen tvs or puppet shows.
There was no food served before or after services. We heard no cell phones during the preaching tho we did hear an occasional cry from a baby or whispering from tots since there was no nursery or children's church. In this setting I came to know Jesus Christ as my personal savior and the direction of my life took a dramatic turn. This rebelous teen became aware of a God who loves her and has a purpose for her life. How I thank God for the wonderful people who took interest in me and taught me by their example that following the teaching of the Bible was a better way to go.
For 58 years I have attempted to follow Christ. I say attempted because you all know that I am no saint. I would not trade what I have in my heart for anything this world has to offer. Many of the people in my world are searching for something that will bring peace. Peace of mind is my most prized possession and when I can't find it, I know where to look. Jesus Christ the Prince of Peace always makes Himself known when I ask. It all started in the little building pictured - if I hadn't found Christ I would be dead or locked up by now. Life is way too big to live on my own.
