james field

Today I ventured to James Field; my first time since the restoration has been completed. It is very nice. The photos do not do it justice. My walk time was short as it was a bit too cold for me today. I enjoy seeing the old high school building. Too bad it continues to set there uncared for and used. Wouldn't it be great if we could utilize our old buildings the way they do in Europe. With our laws (for the protection of the people) a building has to meet some very high standards that make it unprofitable to recycle for new purposes. That building would make some grand apartments or shops with a tea room or housing for the elderly but alas it just dies a slow death and one day the wrecking ball will bring it down. I lament. Back to James Field the old athletic grounds for the high school. Thanks to concerned citizens it did not become the site of the new Walgreens. Volunteers and local donations can still make things happen. Now for some warm weather so I can break in my new walking shoes.
