still learning

A few months ago I had the opportunity to purchase an old piano. We haven't had a piano in the house for 20 years but there has always been a desire to be able to play. So not knowing if I would really put it into use, I bought the piano and had it tuned. Since I do have some musical knowledge it figured that I could gather some beginner books and teach myself the basics.

What fun I am having with simple songs and finger exercises. For now I can practice at will without anyone timing me or checking to see if I am playing only the things that I already know.

All three of our daughters took piano lesson. Our eldest took for 8 years and became accomplished. Twin number one prefered to play by ear and entertained us with that talent but twin number two hated every part of the piano and was released from her torment.

In my opinion every child should have the opportunity to take some type of musical training. Often we don't know where our interests or talents lie until we explore the possibilities.

Well, don't expect an invitation to a recital by me because I already know that I will not master the intrument but in the mean time I am enjoying my attempts.
