a word to the wise

Solomon, a wise man (most of his life) decided to try the lifestyle of the heathen nations surrounding him. Those people didn't believe there is a God and those few who did ignored Him. Their philosophy was "eat, drink and make merry". Solomon partied in his fine clothes, wearing gold chains and jewels, while drinking wine from his 24 Karat gold goblet. He slept with the women of his choice, and flaunted his wealth. After he had tried it all he said that living ones only life without God is like chasing the wind. A wise man indeed.
Recently I was made aware that another of my acquaintences is dying of cancer. His man has done it all and always refused any attempts by others to show him the Christian way. Now he thinks there could be a God and he would like to be ready to meet him before he dies. I am glad that he made this decision but feel sad that so much of this man's life was spent in satisfying his own selfish desires instead of enjoying the joy and peace of serving God and his family and friends. Did he chase the wind like Solomon says. Time will tell.
