Roseville is a village that was worth our visit. The first stop was at the antique store. What fun we had browsing thru things of the past. I saw several things that would have been nice additions to my collections but alas, it is time to downsize , no need to increase the possessions. Hans did fall in love with the old pump and assures me it will nicely grace our flower garden next summer. After spending an hour in this store we drove out into the country to Lee's Amish bakery. Fresh, homemade bread, cookies, candy, cimmamon rolls, popcorn and apple butter found their way into our car trunk for little money. Oh yum!!!!!
Yesterday I failed to tell you about another find in Oquawka. There is an overstuffed flea market store owned and operated by a delightful woman at the age of 91. We had a wonderful chat while I dug thru her "stuff". She told me that she had just completed her 1009th baby quilt. The blocks are machine stitched but she does the quilting by hand. I was amazed at her brightness and energy. She had a few quilts on display and after examining them I was doubly impressed. Age hasn't stopped this person from being a contributing member of society. The shop will be closed for a few weeks as travel is on the agenda of the owner. An inspiration for sure.
